Magnolia soulangeana hybrid
Description
‘Cameo’ is a sister seedling to ‘Cleopatra’ elegant sculpted blooms of rounded form. Outer side of the tepals is reddish purple with the inner surface white, blushed rose. Propagation trials show this to be one of the heaviest flowering magnolias in the nursery when budded and grown for one season.
Bloom
Early to mid spring, with some summer blooms where conditions are not too dry.
Foliage
Medium sized foliage with some resistance to Magnolia Leaf Spot.
Habit
Pyramidal to rounded habit with layers of blooming branches produced with age. (Guide on Plant height & spread, 4 x 3m in 10 years)
Culture
Moist free draining, fertile soils. Full sun for at least half the day.
Hardiness
Hardy (USDA undetermined. At least zone 8).

Bred by New Zealand Plantsman Vance Hooper, New Plymouth, New Zealand

Propagation
